Our Life
5-6-09
I talked to Laura today,(she is making my dress) She said it is almost done! I am so excited to see it! As you can see, Doug and I had some pictures taken for the invitations. What a reality hit. I couldn't even get through the pictures without crying. Standing there looking at him, made me think about the wedding day when we will be facing each other saying our vows. Thinking about all the emotions that will be happening and the meaning of marriage. All quite overwhelming! There is no way I am getting through this ceremony dry eyed!
Doug and I registered this past weekend. Now, this is another area I was warned about. My friends husbands told me not to push him to go and if he doesn't want to do it, go with a girlfriend. Doug is the one who brought it up, so we were on our way. So we got all set up at Macy's, got our gun and were ready to start clicking. Lets just say, Doug won. Who knew he would be so oppinionated about what plates we eat off of?! He was too into it. I think it would almost be easier if the man wasn't interested in the process.
We have been working on the invites all week, I am happy you only have to do this once! They look really pretty though. I am excited to get them out. (by the way, I could really use addresses! Thanks)
One of my friends mom told me I should keep a journal about all the wedding steps and all the funny and emotional rolls so later we can share it with our children, and to have to look back on. SOOO Looks like this blog is becoming my journal!
To update my post, it has been awile. Doug propsed on Valentine's Day and we will be married August 1st, 2009. I am very excited for us to start our new life together. Looking back, I am so thankful that my path has brough me to him. I feel so completely blessed to have Doug in my life. It makes the statement "soulmates" true. He is definitly my bestfriend, my love, and my "perfection". We have been busy with wedding planning, also getting my house ready to rent out, and combining two households. I need to have a big yard sale!
I am still styling hair, making people feel more beautiful one at a time!:) I am loving my house and will be excited when I no longer have to mow the lawn. In the spring I always get so excited and start mowing way too soon, but the newness soon dissolves and it is one more thing to accomplish on the weekends. I had quite the garden this summer though and enjoyed zuccini, corn, beets, onions, carrots, green peppers, tomatoes, etc.
The dogs are wonderful. I need to take a picture of them so they don't feel left out.
Other than house work I feel as though I work quite a bit. Although I love my job. I get paid to make people feel pretty and talk all day. I enjoy all the girls I work with and count my blessings to spend all week with positive coworkers. Plus how many jobs can you go to work and get your hair done, wax your brows, get a massage, or a facial on your spare time!
I was able to get away for a week and visit a friend from high school (Donna) who lives in Manhattan. What a wonderful vacation! I think a part of me was supposed to be a big city girl. I loved every part of the city. Subways, cabs, nightlife, broadway shows, great company, and food galore! Although I found out about a week before I left I now have allergies to wheat and dairy. I still had to have my 3am hotdog, the notorious Brooklyn pizza, and lasagna to die for in Little Italy. Donna and I went to Phantom of the Opera, Avenue Q, and Stomp. All wonderfully amazing in their own ways. I think I would have seen a show everyday if their weren't so many other places to explore.
